The Mathematics of Faith
Postulate: Where fear is present there is absence of faith. Perhaps they are directly proportional, definitely mutually exclusive.
Fear ≠ Faith
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. 1 John 4:p18
Therefore faith is either similar or equal to love.
Faith ≈ Love
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
Love > Faith
Define "perfect love"?
My beloved friends let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn't know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can't know him if you don't love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they've done to our relationship with God. 1 John 4:7-10 (The Message)
Perfect Love = God
For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, Colossians 2:9 (NIV)
… Jesus Christ … Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, but stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. Philippians 2:5-7 (Amplified Bible)
Jesus Christ = God
Conclusion: Jesus Christ and fear do not occupy the same space. Jesus Christ is greater than fear.
"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." Revelation 1:8
… because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Romans 8:14-16
Summary: I was once a minus and now I'm a plus. I love God because He first loved me. I like mathematics.
